Solandra
Solandra is a genus of flowering plants in the family Solanaceae, which includes popular ornamental vines known for their beautiful and fragrant flowers. The genus Solandra comprises about 11 known species, native to tropical regions of Central and South America, particularly Mexico and Costa Rica.
The most well-known species in the Solandra genus is Solandra maxima, commonly known as the cup of gold vine or golden chalice vine. This species features large, trumpet-shaped flowers that are golden yellow in color, hence the common names. The flowers are usually fragrant and attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
Cup of gold vine is a vigorous climber that can reach significant heights, making it suitable for trellises, fences, or pergolas. It has glossy, dark green leaves and produces clusters of flowers throughout the year, with peak blooming occurring in spring and summer.
